When the moon went to sleep, America got a new moon!
By NICHOLAS KAMM / CNNCNN – November 24, 2018 – 10:12:19A new moon, the full moon, has arrived and has been hailed as a great boon to the US economy.
The moon is now nearly full and will set in the evening, and it will also be bright enough to be seen from Earth for the first time in decades.
“The moon will go to sleep at 7:19 p.m.
Eastern time on Wednesday,” NASA said in a statement.
“Its closest approach to Earth this year was at 2:40 p.f. on July 24, 2024.”
As of Tuesday evening, NASA said the moon was 1,086 miles from Earth.
A lunar eclipse happens when the moon passes in front of the Earth and blocks sunlight.
It happens every 11 years.
